Handling at Palma de Mallorca (LEPA)

We handle overflight permits, slots, flight plans, fuel, customs and the turnaround at Palma de Mallorca. One coordinator owns the stop at Palma de Mallorca, from the first filing to wheels up.

The field

What LEPA is actually like

Palma is the largest airport in the Balearics and swings between a quiet winter field and something close to gridlock across the summer. Business aviation is a small share of a very large movement count, which shapes how private trips get sequenced.

Operating brief

What we handle before you file

Permits

AESA is the authority, though a private European flight will never meet it. Spanish traffic rights for non-EU commercial operators are the item with a lead time, and the one worth starting before the schedule firms up.

Slots and parking

Slot coordinated, and in July and August genuinely hard. Parking across the Balearics is the real summer constraint, and Palma is where it bites first.

Customs and border

Most arrivals are intra-Schengen and clear without a check. The rest go through the post at Palma, which across July and August is processing island holiday traffic at full stretch.

When it gets tight

June through September, with the last two weeks of July and the first two of August as the hard core. The Copa del Rey sailing regatta in early August lands in the middle of it.

On the ground

Off the aircraft and into the car

Private movements clear through a separate terminal and the process is quick. The island road network is the constraint in August, not the airport: a transfer to the north coast can take longer than the hop from Ibiza.

Alternates

Where we go when LEPA will not take the trip

Every one of these is a field we would put to you with the reason attached, not a list of nearby runways.

  • LEIB

    Ibiza

Forty minutes away by air and under exactly the same summer pressure, so not a reliable release valve.

  • LEMH

    Menorca

Quieter than either, and a short hop for a repositioning overnight.

  • LEBL

    Barcelona

On the mainland with real capacity, for when the islands have nothing.
