Handling at Copenhagen (EKCH)
We handle overflight permits, slots, flight plans, fuel, customs and the turnaround at Copenhagen Kastrup. One coordinator owns the stop at Copenhagen, from the first filing to wheels up.

The field
What EKCH is actually like
Copenhagen is the largest airport in the Nordics and the regional hub for Scandinavia. It handles business aviation efficiently and sits within reach of southern Sweden across the Øresund bridge.
Operating brief
What we handle before you file
Permits
The Danish CAA is the authority, and a private European flight needs nothing filed. Commercial operators from outside the EU deal with traffic rights in the usual way.
Slots and parking
Slot coordinated but rarely constrained for business aviation, and parking is generally available at short notice. The winter variable is de-icing rather than allocation: from December through March the departure is sequenced by the de-icing pad, not by the slot, and holdover time is what decides whether the schedule holds.
Customs and border
Denmark is inside the EU customs union, so unlike Norway or Switzerland nearby, catering and goods move without an import formality. Transatlantic and Asian traffic goes through a full post. Predictable, which in this network counts for something.
When it gets tight
Summer, the Nordic conference season in spring and autumn, and the Christmas period. None of it closes the field. The sharper constraint across the region is that Copenhagen is the only Nordic airport with full long-haul capability, so it absorbs traffic whenever Oslo or Stockholm cannot take a stop.
On the ground
Off the aircraft and into the car
Fifteen minutes to central Copenhagen, one of the shortest transfers in the network, and the metro from the terminal runs every few minutes. Handling is quick and unfussy. Malmö is forty minutes across the bridge if the trip is Swedish.
Alternates
Where we go when EKCH will not take the trip
Every one of these is a field we would put to you with the reason attached, not a list of nearby runways.
- EKRK
Roskilde
Copenhagen's dedicated general aviation field, west of the city and considerably quieter.
- ESMS
Malmö
Across the bridge in Sweden, forty minutes from central Copenhagen, and a different jurisdiction.
- EKBI
Billund
Jutland, for anything that is not going to the islands.
