The LBA is the authority and a private European flight needs no permit from it. What restricts Frankfurt is the clock, not the paperwork.

Frankfurt has one of the most capable border posts in Europe for long-haul arrivals, and it shows in how little a full passenger load slows the stop down.

When it gets tight

Trade fair season, particularly the automotive and book fairs, fills the city and its hotels before it fills the apron. The financial calendar produces steady rather than spiky demand.

Off the aircraft and into the car

Handling is efficient and the border post is excellent, but the field is enormous and taxi times are long. If the aircraft fits Egelsbach, the total door-to-door is usually shorter despite the shorter runway. Central Frankfurt is twenty minutes by train.
