Handling at Amsterdam (EHAM)

We handle overflight permits, slots, flight plans, fuel, customs and the turnaround at Amsterdam Schiphol. One coordinator owns the stop at Amsterdam, from the first filing to wheels up.

The field

What EHAM is actually like

Schiphol is a major European hub operating at the edge of its permitted movement count. Business aviation is accommodated, but it competes for capacity against a scheduled programme that has political priority.

Operating brief

What we handle before you file

Permits

No landing permit for a private European flight. The difficulty at Schiphol has never once been the permit.

Slots and parking

Slot coordinated under a movement cap that has been the subject of sustained government intervention. Business aviation slots at Schiphol are among the hardest to obtain in Europe, and a request should never be left late.

Customs and border

The border post is well run and clearance has never been the constraint at Schiphol. Everything difficult about this airport happens before the aircraft lands.

When it gets tight

Tulip season in April and the summer months, though the cap means Schiphol is effectively at peak most of the year.

On the ground

Off the aircraft and into the car

The ground experience is genuinely good and the transfer into Amsterdam is twenty minutes by either train or car. Everything difficult about Schiphol happens before the wheels touch down. Once you are on the ground it is one of the easier stops in Europe, with a handling standard that does not vary much between agents and a border post that moves people through quickly. The Hague is forty-five minutes by road, which matters more often than the tourist traffic suggests, because a fair share of the private movements here are diplomatic or legal rather than leisure.

Alternates

Where we go when EHAM will not take the trip

Every one of these is a field we would put to you with the reason attached, not a list of nearby runways.

  • EHRD

    Rotterdam The Hague

The usual business aviation answer for the Randstad, with slots that actually exist.

  • EHEH

    Eindhoven

Southern Netherlands, with capacity and a straightforward border post.

  • EBBR

    Brussels

Ninety minutes by road from Rotterdam, and a genuine alternative for anything heading south.
