Handling at Dallas Love (KDAL)

We handle overflight permits, slots, flight plans, fuel, customs and the turnaround at Dallas Love Field. One coordinator owns the stop at Dallas Love, from the first filing to wheels up.

The field

What KDAL is actually like

Love Field sits inside Dallas and carries a substantial business aviation operation alongside its scheduled traffic. It is the closest field to downtown and the default for corporate movements in north Texas.

Operating brief

What we handle before you file

Permits

No permit for a domestic leg, and eAPIS covers the international ones. Clearance happens on the field rather than across town.

Slots and parking

No slot control, and parking is obtainable at short notice in most weeks. The constraint at Love Field is the perimeter agreement history that shaped its scheduled traffic rather than anything that limits private movements, so business aviation is generally accommodated without argument.

Customs and border

Customs on the field, which spares an international arrival the diversion to Dallas Fort Worth and the road journey back. Mexican and Caribbean arrivals are routine here, and eAPIS notice periods are applied as written.

When it gets tight

The State Fair of Texas in autumn, the run of energy sector conferences, and major sporting fixtures across the metroplex. Ground transport between Love Field and the northern suburbs is the more common friction than anything on the airport, and the drive to Plano or Frisco is longer than the numbers suggest.

On the ground

Off the aircraft and into the car

Ten minutes to downtown Dallas, which is the reason to use Love over Dallas Fort Worth. The northern suburbs are a different matter and Addison beats it comfortably for anything in Plano or Frisco. Handling is quick and the FBOs are good.

Alternates

Where we go when KDAL will not take the trip

Every one of these is a field we would put to you with the reason attached, not a list of nearby runways.

  • KADS

    Addison

Dallas's dedicated business aviation airport, north of the city, and frequently the faster option on the ground.

  • KDFW

    Dallas Fort Worth International

Full capability at any hour, for heavy aircraft and awkward timings.

  • KFTW

    Fort Worth Meacham

West side, general aviation focused, and closer for anything in Tarrant County.
