What GMMN is actually like

Mohammed V is Morocco's principal airport and the main business aviation gateway to North Africa. It is a common first African stop on southbound routings from Europe and a reliable technical stop.

Permits

Both landing and overflight permits go through the Moroccan DGAC. Lead times are reasonable and the process is well established, which is not true everywhere on the continent.

Slots and parking

Slots are not the issue and parking is confirmable in advance. That reliability is what makes Casablanca a dependable technical stop rather than a destination, and the field is used to arrivals it did not expect.

Customs and border

Moroccan entry requirements turn on nationality and are applied as written. Customs treatment of catering and goods carried aboard is stricter than most European operators expect, and crew documentation is checked properly.

When it gets tight

Spring and autumn for tourism, plus the period around Ramadan when schedules across the region shift. Marrakech rather than Casablanca is where the leisure demand actually lands.

On the ground

Off the aircraft and into the car

The city is half an hour. Marrakech is two and a half hours by road or a comfortable train, and for most trips the aircraft should simply go to Marrakech instead. Handling is reliable and the field is easy to work with.
