The field
What WSSL is actually like
Seletar is Singapore's business aviation airport and handles almost all private movements into the country. It is compact, efficient and purpose-built for the role, with Changi reserved for scheduled traffic.
Operating brief
What we handle before you file
Permits
CAAS handles the permit, quickly and against published rules that actually match practice. Singapore is one of the more predictable permit jurisdictions in Asia.
Slots and parking
Slots and prior permission both apply, and the operating hours are shorter than Changi's, which catches out crews planning a late arrival off a long sector. Parking is capped by the physical size of the field, so an extended stay needs arranging early or not at all. When Seletar cannot take the stay, the aircraft usually repositions to Kuala Lumpur rather than paying Changi rates to sit still.
Customs and border
Singapore enforces its entry and customs rules exactly as written, catering and goods aboard included. Clearance is fast precisely because nobody treats the rules as negotiable.
When it gets tight
The Singapore Airshow in alternate Februaries, the Formula One night race in September, and the regional conference season. Each of those fills Seletar's limited apron quickly.
On the ground
Off the aircraft and into the car
Twenty-five minutes to the central business district, and Singapore traffic behaves in a way almost no other city on this list manages. Seletar is small, quick and pleasant. The only thing it cannot give you is room to stay.
Alternates
Where we go when WSSL will not take the trip
Every one of these is a field we would put to you with the reason attached, not a list of nearby runways.
- WSSS
Singapore Changi
Accepts business aviation but at considerably higher cost, and it is the answer for aircraft Seletar cannot take.
- WMSA
Kuala Lumpur Subang
Malaysia's business aviation field, under an hour by air, and rarely constrained.
- WMKK
Kuala Lumpur International
Full capability and capacity, for heavier aircraft and longer stays.
